The CleanEnviro Summit Singapore (CESG) Catalyst 2023 took place on 7 June 2023, in partnership with Ecosperity Week 2023. Themed ‘Towards a Low Carbon and Just Transition’, the by-invitation-only event was held at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre, and attended by over 100 senior industry leaders.
Participants gleaned insights into the key takeaways from COP27 and discussed the challenges and adequacy of enablers for Singapore’s net zero drive and green transition in the workforce. The inputs and outcomes of CESG Catalyst 2023 will help shape the discussions at CESG 2024, to be held from 19 to 21 June 2024.
Programme
- Opening Remarks on "Priorities ahead - What's next after COP27?”
In line with Singapore’s enduring commitment made at COP27 to contribute to global efforts against climate change and achieve a net zero emissions goal by 2050, emphasis was placed on the vision to strengthen the three key enablers: financing the green transition, corporate transparency on sustainability, and workforce transformation. This would ensure that all segments of the society are well-equipped with skills and support necessary for a smooth transition.

- Launch of the Enviro Tech Innovation Hub (ETIH@TP)
At CESG Catalyst 2023, seven organisations jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding to launch the Enviro Tech Innovation Hub (ETIH@TP), a first-of-its-kind in Singapore "Living Laboratory", dedicated to the advancement of public hygiene and integrated facilities management. Supported by the National Environment Agency, the ETIH@TP will serve as a platform for developing capabilities, co-creation, and the test-bedding of innovative solutions in the cleaning industry.
Temasek Polytechnic, together with the Environmental Management Association of Singapore, and industry partners LS 2 Holdings Limited, Republic Power Pte Ltd, Cleantools Pte Ltd, Karcher Singapore Pte Ltd, and Nilfisk Pte Ltd, joined hands to drive transformation and capability development in Singapore’s cleaning industry.
- Just Transition – Transforming the Workforce for the Green Economy
More companies across sectors are starting to adopt environmentally sustainable practices and develop sustainability targets for compliance and reporting. These have opened opportunities and revealed the need to transform the workforce. This segment discussed the skills needed for the transition and the measures that can be taken to build up the workforce for the Green Economy, while ensuring that the transition is fair and equitable.
- Enabling Singapore’s Net Zero Drive
Enabling Singapore’s net zero drive will entail one of our biggest economic transformations. Given the rising cost of doing business, seeking ways to optimise costs through decarbonisation initiatives makes good financial sense for companies. This session explored how private and public sectors could work together to support the development of sustainable and transition finance, and the climate finance initiatives available to help businesses decarbonise.
- Focus Group Discussions
- Networking Tea Break
- Transparency as the Foundation of a Successful Net Zero Transition
As more investors in both public and private assets insist on greater sustainability, a need for consistent, shared disclosure and reporting standards has arisen. Transparency can help build trust among stakeholders and improve a company’s reputation and sustainability performance. This session will discuss the importance of climate-related financial disclosures and frameworks that can help companies better manage their sustainability reporting.
