CESG 2024 - Site Visit - Project Wolbachia

Project Wolbachia at Techplace II
2:00PM to 4:00PM

NEA’s Project Wolbachia involves the releases of non-biting male Wolbachia-carrying Aedes aegypti mosquitoes into the environment to fight dengue. When the male Wolbachia-Aedes mosquitoes mate with female urban Aedes aegypti mosquitoes (without Wolbachia), their resultant eggs do not hatch. Field studies conducted at some of the release sites have achieved more than 90% suppression of the Aedes aegypti mosquito (the main vector for dengue) population. Discover automated modules incorporated into large-scale mosquito production at NEA’s mosquito production facility, including:

  • Automated larvae counter and dispensing system
  • High density rearing system
  • Pupae size scanner
  • Pupae separation system
Note: This facility is not wheelchair accessible.
