Ms Jelita Teper, Chief Scientific Officer and Director of the Environmental Monitoring & Modelling Division (EMMD) at the National Environment Agency (NEA) of Singapore, has 25 years of experience in environmental management. Her strong background in the environmental field covers includes pollution and environmental monitoring, waste management and recycling, industry transformation, policy and standards setting, and strategic planning.

Jelita currently leads the division responsible for ambient air, water, and soil quality monitoring, leveraging on extensive network of onsite scientific analysers and sensors and laboratory testing to ensure accurate and reliable environmental data is measured.  This is essential in safeguarding the health of the public, long-term trend analysis, and assessing the effectiveness of control measures and policies. As a Chief Scientific Officer, Jelita is a strong advocate for innovation and deepening science capabilities, with the team actively conducting trials on emerging technologies, leveraging on data science, RPA (Robotic Process Automation) and dispersion models, as well as collaborating with the academia on various ambient air and water quality research. The team has received local and international awards for the various science and tech innovations in environmental monitoring.
